Weebly HTML Tutorials Review
DivTag's Weebly HTML tutorial is probably one of the best tutorials for Weebly on the market as of the day I'm writing this review. It's perfect for newbies and those that are new to Weebly or Weebly themes design - Especially if you do not have any background in HTML or CSS codings
The Pros - Weebly HTML
The instructions are clear, concise and written in a very simple way so it's very easy to understand. The step-by-step instructions are presented with picture diagrams to show where to change Weebly HTML codes, so I could see exactly what they're talking about which is just awesome.
In my opinion, DivTag really understands the demographics of their customers and have done a bang up job in producing these FREE Weebly tutorials so even beginners like myself could start to make interesting changes to my Weebly theme - all without having any background in Weebly HTML codes! They have Weebly tutorial lessons covering the following topics:

Just a minor note on the last bullet point. Although we are all interested in website design (that's how I found DivTag anyway), Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is actually quite important in promoting your website. I could have the best designed Weebly theme on the market but if the people can't find me through Search Engines such as Google, then it's sort of pointless. So in a sense, I thought that the lessons on the basics of SEO was quite relevant.
What can be IMPROVED!
The downside of Weebly HTML tutorials is that it is probably a bit too amateur for experienced designers and programmers, but I suppose more savvy designers / programmers won't be needing these Weebly tutorials in the first place anyway. So in that sense, these Weebly HTML tutorials are tailored to cater to people like myself - amateurs whom want to be a bit more hands-on to do my own designing, but not sophisticated to really do too much!
Another draw back is that DivTag delivers these lessons in piecemeal. One lesson every 3 days, delivered directly by email. Personally, I found that this was just fine with me as it takes a couple of days for me to digest the information and I'm not in a huge rush anyway. But I can foresee that some people could potentially be a bit anxious. Perhaps DivTag could one day package up their Weebly theme tutorials in a consolidated package, perhaps in PDF format and just distribute them that way. UPDATE: I was informed that they are now delivering each lesson every day! One Weebly HTML lesson per day - that's an improvement :) |
A BIG favor - Weebly Theme CONVERSION!!
Here's an idea for DivTag. What if they could write a Weebly HTML tutorial on how to convert normal website templates into Weebly Themes!! If they could do that, it would be crazy awesome! Though I suspect that they haven't been able to do it for the simple fact that it would be way too complicated for those without a strong programming / coding background, and it would be mighty difficult to condense that technical knowledge into a Weebly HTML tutorial.
No doubt, we all wish that there was a button for us to just press, then out-pops a compatible Weebly theme. Unfortunately, I don't think it works that way. I think there will be a TON of modifications, trials and errors, and endless bashing of keyboards to get the conversion to work, and to work properly.
Having said that, it just might not be possible for DivTag to create a "one size fit all" tutorial on Weebly theme conversion. But you just never know. Let's see, maybe one day they will be able to pull that one off!

My conclusion
But regardless of some of the potential improvements points, weighing the pros and cons, the tutorials are by FAR more "pro" than "con".
First of all, it's FREE!! I really have no grief on them delivering the lessons in piecemeals. I mean, it's free after all so I really have no place to complain :)
Further, I really admire the way they have tailored it to meet the needs of amateurs. I've read tutorials / instructional guides for other things, and more often than not, the writers never put themselves in the readers' shoes. They just ramble off in their own technical languages and basically expect the rest of the world to understand them. Not with DivTag. They really have their intended readers in mind. I would recommend those whom are interested in learning a bit more about Weebly design to sign up for the tutorials. It has been very helpful for me, to say the least.
Lastly, they have been adding to their tutorials from time to time (as at the time of this review anyway). What would be EVEN more helpful if they started branching out to other aspects of design such as tips on how to use PhotoShop. That would be quite helpful... since I need help with that :)
